Wahroonga
Radiation Oncology Institute - Wahroonga is located in the suburb of the same name on the Upper North Shore of Sydney. Situated in the grounds of the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Radiation Oncology Institute - Wahroonga is a private medical specialist practice originally founded in Macquarie Street Sydney in 1936. Since then the practice has grown and in 1976 commenced in its current site as the second Practice in New South Wales to be located outside of a Public Hospital. In 2004 an Elekta Synergy was installed followed by an Elekta Precise in 2005, both of which have photon and electron capability, multileaf collimation and electronic portal imaging.
Regular clinics are held in Orange to facilitate the treatment of country patients. Should patients be required to attend for treatment at Radiation Oncology Institute - Wahroonga, affordable accommodation is available at Jacaranda Lodge within the grounds of the hospital.
Gosford
In 1994 land was purchased in the centre of Gosford for the purpose of building new premises to service the patients of the Central Coast who had been travelling to Sydney for treatment. The Gosford centre was opened for its first patients in August 1995 with one Varian Clinic 600C linear accelerator with a Ximatron Simulator added in October 2005. Today Radiation Oncology Institute - Gosford remains the only radiation therapy facility on the Central Coast and treats more than 500 new patients every year.
